Siden Gerard Perse i 1990’erne overtog først Château Monbousquet (1993) og siden Château Pavie (1998) er begge slotte løftet til deres højeste niveau nogensinde. Superduoen er i dag strålende eksempler på højrebredsvin i absolut verdensklasse.

Monbousquet 2020 er den hidtil flottest ratede og det formentlig nærmeste, du kommer smagen af Pavie Premier Cru Classé A for omkring 500 kroner flasken. Du kan nærmest smage, at Monbousquet er Bordeaux-ikonets Gerard Perses privatbolig, og at der er lagt ekstra kærlighed vinen...

“The nose is fruity and offers freshness as well as a small concentration. It reveals notes of cassis, black plum, small notes of violet associated with touches of pulpy raspberry as well as fine hints of vanilla and a discreet hint of zan. The mouth is fruity, balanced and offers juiciness, gourmandize, a good definition, a certain control, a certain richness, a nice fine grain, a nice roundness/delicacy as well as freshness. The wine expresses notes of pulpy/fleshiness, fleshy cassis, small notes of violet associated with touches of blueberry, raspberry, blueberry, small notes of black fruits, hints of tonka bean/mocha, cornflower as well as fine hints of nutmeg, vanilla and a discreet hint of caramelization. The tannins are precis and finely soft. Good length. Nice bitterness at the end of the palate.”

Vinen er fremstillet på et blend af 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc og 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, som Gerard Perse selekterer fra Monbousquets 32 hektar fra en enkeltmark med sand og samme rustholdige lertype, crasse de fer, som kendes fra de bedste slotte i Pomerol. For at holde høstudbyttet ekstra lavt og druekvaliteten i top beskæres vinstokkene kraftigt, ligesom en del af frugten fjernes ved grøn høst. Druerne plukkes manuelt med streng sortering, inden vinen gærer på ståltanke med frugtbevarende temperaturstyring. Monbousquet Grand Cru Classé fuldendes med 18-24 måneders lagring på 225 liters barriquefade, heraf 60% helt nye. Ønologisk konsulent: Michel Rolland.
