Siden seneste ejerskifte i 2009 er der ganske enkelt sket imponerende ting hos Rol Valentin, hvor potentialet altid har været enormt...

Slottets 7,30 hektar med gennemsnitligt 40 år gamle vinstokke fordeler sig på to separate zoner i Saint-Émilion. Den ene på varm og sandet jord nær Cheval Blanc, den anden på køligere ler og kalksten nær Valandraud.

I 2020 gennemgik Rol Valentins vinkældre en komplent modernisering, og nu sker vinificeringen parcel-for-parcel på små og helt nye betontanke. Efter 30 dages macerationstid følger malolaktisk gæring samt 14-16 måneders fadmodning på 70 % nye franske barriquefade. Legenden Stéphane Derenoncourt er ønologisk konsulent.

”Inky dark purple core and hue. Pure and intense nose offering some chalk, black truffle, violet and inky dark fruit. Very good grip and concentration with layers of ripe cassis, cherry, plum and fine oak derived spiciness, a refreshing acidity with chalky grip, grainy but plentiful tannin and a very long muscular finish, great potential here.”

“The 2020 Rol Valentin is gorgeous. Strong Cabernet Franc accents lend tons of aromatic presence to play off a core of rich, heady dark-fleshed fruit. Black cherry, plum, mocha, espresso and grilled herbs all build effortlessly as the 2020 opens in the glass. The new oak is a bit strong, but otherwise, the balance here is very fine.”
