Den bedste Château Rocheyron nogensinde i den legendariske årgang 2016. Kultslottet i Saint-Èmilion leverer med 98 points fra James Suckling en vinoplevelse helt oppe på niveau med de største 1er Grand Cru Classé A’er.

Château Rocheyron er vel nok det mest spændende vinslot at følge lige nu i Saint-Èmilion. Opkøbt i slutningen af nullerne af parfume-rigmanden, Silvio Denz, der også ejer andre slotte i Bordeaux. Og hvad har han så købt? Et 8,45 hektar drømmeterroir, der grænser op til Château Laroque Grand Cru Classé og som siden 2011 stødt og roligt har udviklet sig til at blive en af de mest efterspurgte kultvine i Saint-Èmilion skønt den ikke bærer ”Cru Classé” på etiketten.

Den sjældne og eftertragtede vin debuterer i 2014 som certificeret økologisk og biodynamisk - med andre ord praktiseres der på slottet en ”hands-off winemaking”, hvor terroiret får lov til at folde sig ud med spontangæring og høst på særligt udvalgte dage ligesom der ”passes på frugten” med en mindre grad af ny egetræsfade i modningsprocssen.

En helt oplagt vin til kældersamlingen med kæmpe lagringspotentiale.

What a wonderful nose of blackberries, limestone, minerals and dried violets. Full body and very fine tannins that are sophisticated and tailored, with a really fine texture and liveliness. The length is fantastic and refined. Try after 2026, but impressive to taste already.

…There was no raisining in 2016, and this fine Saint-Emilion has great intensity on the palate, with dark plum and blackberry notes, an impenetrable colour in the glass, and a complex pot-pourri of herb, cedar and spices on the nose. Clean, precise and with all the components in great balance, this will age for several decades. Top wine of the tasting.

Inky ruby and purple in color, the wine offers boysenberry, floral, licorice and black and blue fruit. Sweet, lush, fresh and pure with a concentrated, dark chocolate and plum liqueur finish.

The 2016 Rocheyron, is unquestionably the best to date. The bouquet from the glass with fresh blackberry and boysenberry fruit that is seamlessly integrated with the one-third new oak. The palate is framed by fine tannins and a superb line of acidity. There is plenty of crisp black fruit here, and the smooth, energetic finish leaves a crushed stone residue…

Rich crimson with a black center and lilac tinges at the edge. Dancing bouquet with raspberry pulp and cranberries, behind them blueberries and violets. Elegant palate with a fine muscular texture, delicate grip but silky texture. In the back aroma with milk chocolate and cassis in the long-lasting finale - the first time that he really convinced me!
