Haut-Brion har indtaget højrebredden… Château Quintus nærmer sig med TGV-højhastighed Pétrus, Cheval Blanc og Ausone!

I perioden fra 2011 starter det vildeste nye eventyr i St-Émilion. Domaine Clarence Dillon, ejer af legendariske Château Haut Brion 1. Cru Classé, overtager de to historiske vingårde Tertre Daugay og L’Arrosée, der begge ophøjes til ”First Growth” i Saint-Émilion-biblen Cocks & Ferret.

I 2021 overtager Domaine Clarence Dillon på vegne af Château Quintus overtager endnu et topslot, Château Grand-Pontet, der ligger omringet af de tre Premier Grand Cru Classé-ejendomme Château Canon, Clos Fourtet and Château Beau-Séjour Bécot på Saint-Émilions vestlige kalkstensplateau.

2022 er premiereårgangen, hvor der for første gang indgår druer fra egne marker på Grand-Pontet. Samtidig er flagskibet denne gang skabt med en rekordhøj andel af Cabernet Franc – faktisk mere en 40 %. Resultatet er den til dato mest florale og elegante årgang af Château Quintus – og dertil, ifølge Jeff Leve, slottets hidtil bedste vin. 

” The colour of this Quintus is a deep purple. The nose is powerful, revealing ripeness, but not excessively so, with scents of red and black fruits, giving freshness: it is complex, therefore delicate. The first taste is wide, majes tic, gentle and structured. The wine then progresses, smooth, devoid of heaviness, but powerful, covering the palate in the three dimensions: width, depth and length. The Cabernet Francs (more than 40%) bring freshness, as well as structure and combine with the generous, fleshy Merlots, to give a result perhaps never before attained at Quintus.
