Intense purple colour with violet hue and almost black core. Quite opulent nose with distinct toasting aroma, vanilla and mild spices, dark chocolate, backed by ripe blackberries, plums and cherries. On the palate opulent character, dark chocolate, elegant toasting aroma, succulent fruit, mild spices and hints of cocoa. A powerful yet elegant wine with freshness.

This is textured and polished with a medium body offering aromas of ripe plums and mulberries, some dark chocolate and dark spices. Ripe and supple tannin structure and creamy finish.

A 70/30 split of Merlot and Cabernet Franc that saw 40% new oak, the 2018 Château La Tour Figeac reveals a deep ruby/purple color to go with a classy nose of spiced currants, black cherries, loamy soil, leather, and dried tobacco and herbal notes. It has a savory, complex nose yet brings plenty of sweet fruit and opulence on the palate, with ripe and polished tannins, a rounded, layered mouthfeel, and outstanding length on the finish. The balance is spot on, it has a great mid-palate, and I suspect it will have 15-20 years of overall longevity.

”On the nose, fruity, full bodied, a good definition. It reveals the notes of juicy blackberry, strawberry, slight hint of juicy wild berries, associated with cornflower, de zan, crushed blueberry, hint of grey pepper, discreet touch of roasted coffee and toast. On the palate, fruity, mineral, it offers freshness, gourmandize, a good definition, straight forward wine with strictness and firmness. The wine express the notes of juicy blackcurrant, small blackberries, and slight hint of black prune associated with touch of crushed blueberry, strawberry, waft of tobacco, toast, nutmeg, discreet hint of vanilla on the longer of the palate. Good length, The tannins is beautifully leading, a touch of grilled bitterness of cacao on the finish line.”
