Set i dette perspektiv, og med prisen in mente, har vi indiskutabelt fat i et af de klogeste køb fra topårgangen 2020.

Château Franc Mayne, der er medlem af den prestigiøse Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux,  blev hædret som Grand Cru Classé i 1955 og har beholdt klassifikationen lige siden.

Det lille vinslot er idéelt beliggende øst for St-Émilion samt nogle få hundrede meter nord for ikoniske Château Angelus. 2020 er fremstillet på 100 % Merlot fra Grand Maynes 7 hektar vinmarker, der dyrkes økologisk med officiel certificering fra 2022.

The wine express the notes of  small black fruits, raspberry, black plum, lily, graphite, cardamon, dark chocolate, black tea, black olive and a subtle hint of caramelization. The tannins are well developed, elegant, racy and mellow. A little chewy at the end of the palate/persistance.”

While it's not massive, it has terrific concentration and intensity, supple tannins, and a great finish. It's going to evolve gracefully for 15 years or more.”

“Juicy and so lively on the palate, this really is quite joyful, with a burst of strawberry, raspberry and red cherry fruit within softly chalky tannins and menthol edges. I love the ease of this, it's round and approachable with a good tannic frame and I adore the perfumed red fruits. It's perhaps not as big or broad as some, yet it's more refined despite the pronounced tannins. Sleek, saline and focused. A softer expression of St-Emilion and the 2020 vintage, but lots to like here.”
