“The nose is aromatic and powerful. It reveals notes of blackberry, cassis and small notes of fresh raspberry associated with touches of spices, gray pepper and subtle hints of almond (in the background). The palate is fruity, juicy, mineral, well-balanced and offers a good definition, suavity, tension, a beautiful guideline, dynamism, gourmandize, finesse as well as beautiful finesse of the grain. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy blackberry, fleshy / crunchy strawberry and small notes of cassis associated with fine touches of toasted oak, licorice, blond tobacco, spices, chocolate and crushed almond on the finish. Tannins are fine, elegant and slightly chewy. Good length. Chew on the finish. The persistence is gourmande. Great success!”

“The 2017 Virginie de Valandraud is a gorgeous second wine. Dark, pliant and inviting, the 2017 has so much to offer. Cherry jam, white chocolate, menthol, licorice and rose petal all flesh out in this beautifully expressive, savory Saint-Émilion. The Cabernets give lovely aromatic lift and brightness throughout. The blend is 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.”

“Black raspberries, forest floor, spring flowers, and a kiss of white chocolate all emerge from the medium to full-bodied 2017 Virginie De Valandraud, which has a lively, elegant texture, beautiful balance, and silky tannins. It's a classic, polished, fruit-forward Bordeaux that will offer loads of pleasure over the coming decade. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, brought up in new barrels.

“The second wine of Château Valandraud, this has many of the rich, powerful characteristics of the first wine. Its tannins and powerful black fruits shine through, as does elegance and a poise between richness and freshness.”
