I perioden fra 2011 starter det vildeste nye eventyr i St-Émilion. Domaine Clarence Dillon, ejer af legendariske Château Haut Brion 1. Cru Classé, overtager de to historiske vingårde Tertre Daugay og L’Arrosée, der begge ophøjes til ”First Growth” i Saint-Émilion-biblen Cocks & Ferret.
Med et terroir og en producent i absolut verdensklasse er successen uundgåelig…
I maj i London 2022 blindsmager 28 førende vinpersonligheder, heriblandt Jancis Robinson og James Suckling, 8 årgange fra de 6 topslotte Château Pavie, Château Ausone, Château Angelus, Château Figeac, Château Pavie, Château Cheval Blanc samt den (så længe det kan vare!) klart billigere Château Quintus.
Resultatet siger alt. Blandt de 48 smagte vine brillerer Château Quintus med 3 vine i TOP15 samt med 3 perfekte 100-point-ratings!

"The 2020 Quintus is a blend of 62.5% Merlot and 37.5% Cabernet Franc, weighing in with an alcohol of 15.4%. Displaying a deep purple-black color, it leaps from the glass with bold notes of crushed blackberries, boysenberries and stewed plums, plus suggestions of chocolate mint, clove oil, lilacs and star anise. The full-bodied palate is densely laden with rich black fruits and floral accents, framed by well-balanced acidity and finely grained tannins, finishing with great length and impressive energy. Judging from this barrel sample, this is the finest, most complex and complete Quintus yet—bravo!"

"A big, velvety textured wine, especially in the vintage, the 2020 Château Quintus offers a gorgeous array of pure crème de cassis and black raspberry fruits as well as leafy herbs, graphite, and chocolate. These all carry to a full-bodied Saint-Emilion with a round, mouth-filling texture, ripe tannins, and a great finish. This estate has been firing on all cylinders of late, and this should be in the same realm as the 2016, 2018, and I suspect, the 2019."

On the palate, fruity, refined and in balance, and offers juiciness, smoothness, freshness, good definition, with a certain delicacy and finesse. The wine expresses notes of pulpy / bright blackcurrant, blackberry and slight notes of raspberry along with touches of lily, lilac, blueberry, liquorice, madagascar pepper as well as hints of chocolate, caramelization, with delicate hints of toast, vanilla, black tea and cardamom. Château Quintus er i topåret 2020 skabt på et udsøgt blend af 62,5 % Merlot og 37,5 % Cabernet Franc, der håndselekteres fra bæredygtigt certificerede topmarker i Saint-Émilion (nærmere bestemt fra de tre historiske "First Growth" ejendomme Château Tertre Daugay, Château L’Arrosée og Château Grand Pontet). For at optimere frugtkvaliteten sker druehøsten parcel for parcel i perioden fra 11. til 25. september.
Den parcelvise vinificering sker ligeledes på ståltank med frugtbevarende temperaturstyring, hvorefter Haut-Brion-teamet ved blindsmagning finder de perfekte komponenter til det endelige blend. Flagskibet modner herefter 12-18 måneder på 225 liters franske barriquefade, heraf 37,2 % helt nye.
