Med masser af topratings op til 96 point rammer Le Grand Vin fra det tidligere munkekloster Château Prieuré-Lichine igen et imponerende højt niveau i superårgangen 2022.
I disse år afspejler Maragux-vinens verdensklassekvalitet en foreløbig kulmination på de utallige ambitiøse tiltag, der er sket i det nye årtusinde. Efter en omfattende modernisering af produktionsfaciliteterne vinificeres hver eneste parcel separat, hvilket giver stjerneønologen Stéphane Derenoncourt optimale forudsætninger for at sammenstikke det endelige blend.
I 2024-årgangen brillerer slottet med en elegant Margaux på 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 52% Merlot og 3%. Druerne fra de 30 år gamle vinstokke dobbeltsorteres inden vinificeringen med 28-30 dages skindkontakt. Herefter omstikkes Le Grand Vin til 15 måneders modning på 225 liters barriquefade, heraf 40 % nye og resten 1 år gamle.
Ved køb af 12 flasker leveres vinen i original trækasse.

“Château Prieuré-Lichine has always reminded me of silky, tender tofu, but in the hot and dry 2022 vintage, it takes on a character more akin to chewy dried tofu (featuring 12% press wine). The bouquet is intensely aromatic, revealing vibrant notes of dried jujube and blueberry compote, subtly lifted by a hint of orange zest upon swirling. Thanks to gentle extraction techniques—such as foot-treading and halving the usual maceration frequency—combined with relatively low-temperature fermentation, the wine greets the palate with a finely textured sensation reminiscent of cocoa powder. Typically reserved in character, Château Prieuré-Lichine unveils a livelier and more dynamic side in the 2022 vintage. The finish is captivating, distinguished by an enchanting touch of salinity that recalls a Saint-Émilion-like finish, leaving a lasting impression among Médoc wines.”

Det tidligere munkekloster Ch. Prieuré-Lichine ligger i Margaux på den venstre bred i Bordeaux. I 1952 blev slottet købt af Alexis Lichine, der i tråd med traditionen navngav slottet efter sig selv, men lod det første navn stå for at ære fortidens hårdtarbejdende munke. På grund af dårlig økonomi og generel forsømmelse talte vinmarkerne ikke mere end 7 hektar og blev solgt for en slik. Men Lichine var visionær for sin tid. Han formåede at vende udviklingen og forøgede beplantningerne til 65 hektar. Demonstrativt plantede han et stort skilt ved motorvejen D2 for at tiltrække turister - et træk, der ikke var videre populært blandt naboerne, da man ikke var vant til turister i Bordeaux dengang.
Senere overtog sønnen Sacha Lichine arbejdet med den kendte Michel Rolland ved roret som ønolog. I 1999 blev slottet solgt til Ballande-gruppen, en succesfuld négociant i Bordeaux, og Stéphane Derenoncourt fungerer nu som førende ønolog. Ballande-gruppen har fortsat genrejsningen af slottet med reduktion af høstudbyttet for at øge kvaliteten, nye metoder til beskæring og en omfattende modernisering af faciliteterne. Kvaliteten er i dag højere end nogensinde før.
