Les Grands Chenes, på papiret en simpel Médoc, sendte i 2005 chokbølger tværs over Atlanten, da vinen ved Grand Jury Européens stort anlagte blindtest slog bordeaux-ikonerne Lafite, Haut-Brion, Ch. Margaux og Mouton samt en stribe californiske stjernevine. To år efter var der nye stryg til navne som Mouton, Valandraud og Lafite til tyvedobbelt pris...
Nøglen til kvaliteten er et exceptionelt grusholdigt terroir med udsigt til Girondes tempererende vandmasser. I kælderen forløser ejer Bernard Magrez og winemaker Michael Rolland potentialet med mindst samme seriøsitet som på søsterslottene Pape Clément, La Tour Carnet og Fombrauge.

The 2016 is far more refined from bottle than it was from barrel. In this tasting, it is pure class. Tasted two times."
