Château La Mission Haut-Brion forveksles ofte med 2. vinen til Château Haut-Brion 1. Cru Classé, men dette er en fejl, Selvom de er naboer og , så er er ”La Mission” et selvstændigt slot med en prægtig historie.

I skrivende stund har den ikoniske kultvin scoret 100 point fra Robert Parker hele 9 gange og bunkevis af ”perfect scores” fra andre vinanmeldere… Dette er Bordeaux fra den allerøverste hylde med kultvine!

”This is just gorgeous, flirting with the very best. Striking aromatics of crushed red rose petals that pop out of the glass, Not as long lasting as some vintages perhaps, but so much finesse and balance, plenty of classic La Mission finesse and balance, touches of mint leaf, cloves and pummice stone minerality. Taut on the finish in its tannic structure and no question majors more heavily on the cool blue fruit character than we have seen with this property in recent years but it is seriously enjoyable, a total masterclass in cool fruit delivery, and a reminder than in the warmer location of Mission and Haut-Brion, these more understated vintages can really offer joyful drinking. 73% new oak, harvest September 20 to October 8. No frost impact here and very little mildew, meaning the overall yield was up to 47hl/h. This is one I strongly recommend, my red wine of the vintage.”

“48% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc. Kräftiges Rubinrot. Tiefgründig und kühl, steinig, nobel, die Frucht ist ein Mix aus dunklen und roten Beeren, dazu florale Töne, super fein. Im Gaumen schlank im Auftakt, baut dann aus, der Wein hat eine sehr gute Struktur, eine knackige Frucht und ungemein viel Energie, hier tänzeln die Beeren geradeso über die Zunge, das hat Finesse und Präzision und ist aufgrund des moderaten Alkoholgehalts eine wahrlich klassische Mission. 2025-2045+”

La Mission Haut-Brion 2021 er fremstillet på et nøje sammanstukket blend af 47,9 % Merlot, 45,8 % Cabernet Sauvignon og 6,3 % Cabernet Franc, der høstes fra slottets egne marker i Pessac-Leognan med Haut Brion 1. Cru Classé som nabo. Vinstokkene nyder derfor godt af den samme god soleksponering samt de op til 18 meter dybe grusbanker, der giver terroiret sit exceptionelle kvalitetspotentiale. Vinen er modnet 18 måneder på 225 liters barriquefade, heraf 73 % helt nye.

Om Château La Mission Haut-Brion

Chateau La Mission Haut Brion er beliggende i den sydlige udkant af storbyen Bordeaux. Slottet stammer fra slutningen af 1500-tallet, men har siden 1983 tilhørt den amerikanske Dillon-familie, der ligeledes ejer naboslottet Chateau Haut-Brion. Slottets 25 hektar er beliggende på dybe grusaflejringer og velsignet med gamle, tætplantede vinstokke. Årlig produktion: 6.000 og 7.000 flasker.
