Med sine sølle 24 hektar er Château Ferrière blandt de mindste Cru Classé-slotte i Médoc, men topvinens kvalitet og markernes placering klos op ad ikoniske 1. Cru Château Margaux (!) har gjort Ferrière til Margaux’ måske bedst bevarede hemmelighed.

Slottet drives af den ambitiøse Villars-familie, der kendes fra prestigiøse topslotte som fx Chasse-Spleen i Moulis og Haut-Bages-Liberal i Pauillac, men 3. Cru Classé Château Ferrière er og bliver juvelen i kronen. Efter mere end et årti i kælderen viser  2011 nu for alvor den klasse, der fik Vinum til at udråbe vinen som en af årgangens smukkeste i Margaux!

The palate is fruity and offers a tangy structure, a nice fleshiness of the fruit, good definition, a fine acidic backbone, a nice freshness and a certain gourmandise. On the palate this wine has crunchy redcurrant, pulpy strawberry and slightly blackcurrant notes with a touch of tart/juicy plum, blue berries, fine violet, vanilla and a subtle hint of blueberry, liquorice and eucalyptus (in the background). Nice tannins with a fine mellowness. Fine sapidity/salinity in the background.”
