Luksuriøs og anmelderrost 1. Cru Classé Sauternes med marker der grænser op til det ikoniske Château d’Yquem.

Clous Haut-Peyraguey kan nemt forveksles med Château Lafaurie Peuraguey, der indtil 1878 var ét og sammen slot. Den øverste del blev til ”Haut-Peyraguey”, der med sin 8,5 hektar store enkeltparcel faktisk var den mindste af alle 1. Cru Classé’er i hele 1855-klassifikationen.

Slottets udvikling blev for alvor sat i gang af Garbay-Pauly, der købte slottet i 1914 og den samme familie skulle vise sig at drive det i næste 100 år frem. Den store Bordeaux-købmand, Bernard Magrez, der også ejer adskillige andre Cru Classé-slotte, overtog Haut-Peyraguey i 2012 og har siden da båret stafetten videre på bedste vis. Når Bernard Magrez sætter sit navn på en etiket, kan man være overbevist om, at kvaliteten er i særklasse og ratings fra verdens førende anmeldere har siden hans overtagelse været stødt stigende. Verdensklasse 1. Cru Classé Sauternes, der leverer usædvanligt høj value for money!

Ripe peach, flowers, and honeyed citrus all emerge from the 2016 Clos Haut-Peyraguey, which has the vintage’s upfront, ripe, forward style front and center. It has beautiful purity of fruit and is already impossible to resist, yet it’s going to evolve nicely as well.

From the first nose, we perceive its richness through a note of baked apple. Wine of volume and flesh, it evolves on a touch of spices. A richness that is balanced by its power and its muscular side. In one block, its very pure fruit carries within it a high confit. In this style that the estate has been cultivating for several vintages, this is the finest of the last three years.
