"95 points. From my perspective, the 2019 vintage is a milestone for Bellefont-Belcier" - Alexandre Ma

With pungent aromas of crushed rock and stone in the forefront, the nose quickly moves to the floral side before the red berries, smoke and licorice kick in. Concentrated, with velvet textured, salty tannins and waves of sweet, ripe, fresh berries, the finish really sticks with you. The wine was made from blending 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, reaching 13.95% alcohol. The wine is aged in 40% new French oak barrels with 20% of the wine aging in foudres

Two 4000-liter Foudres were put into usage for the 2019 Bellefont-Belcier. Such adjustments purify the scents in no time. Succulent fruity scents are filled with spina dates, plums and hints of orchids, and the coolness of herbaceous spices after swirling the glass. The mixed soils of the limestone plateau blend a layer of dense tannins into the plump and sweet taste, dressing up the already rich body and creating an view of open landscape of mountains in its length. From my perspective, the 2019 vintage is a milestone for Bellefont-Belcier, marking the formal formation of its clear and juicy style.
James Suckling
Very attractive plum and cherry aromas with hints of flowers and wet earth, following through to a medium to full body with linear, polished tannins and a juicy finish. Juicy fruit to finish with some minerality and forest-flower undertones. A little tight, but very pure at the end. Drink after 2025.

A beautiful, elegant Saint-Emilion that will be loved by both modernists and traditionalists out there, the 2019 Château Bellefont-Belcier comes from a south-facing, limestone terroir just beside Château Pavie and Larcis Ducasse. A blend of 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, it starts out reticent and understated yet builds beautifully with time in the glass and has wonderful cassis and black raspberry fruits intermixed with notes of truffle, tobacco, damp earth, and violets. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has silky tannins, perfect overall balance, and a great finish. It's not a powerhouse, but it shines for its purity, finesse, and elegance. Drink bottles over the coming 15-20 years or so.

The nose is elegant and offers concentration, intensity and deepness. It reveals notes of cassis, Boysen berry, small notes of crushed wild raspberry associated with touches of very ripe cherry, liquorice and Sichuan pepper. the palate is fruity, mineral, well-balanced and offers a beautiful suavity, a finesse of the grain and freshness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy/juicy blackberry, juicy cassis, small notes of raspberry associated with touches of juicy/fresh plum, cherry as well as fine hints of violet, camphor and cocoa. Tannins are precise, racy and fine. Good length.

From a beautifully situated hillside vineyard, sandwiched between Larcis Ducasse and Tertre Roteboeuf on either side, with holdings belonging to Pavie and Troplong Mondot on the plateau above, the 2019 Bellefont Belcier has turned out very well indeed. Offering up aromas of smoky berry fruit, loamy soil, subtle spices, black truffle and violets, it's full-bodied, velvety and seamless, with a vibrant, enveloping profile and a long, penetrating finish. This is a terrific effort, though given the thoughtful farming and program of replanting that is underway at this long-neglected estate, I suspect it only hints at what is to come as Jean-Christophe Meyrou and his team get to work.

The 2019 Bellefont-Belcier is a wine of tremendous reserve. The 35% Cabernet Franc comes through in the wine's aromatic profile and overall feel. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2019 needs time to come together. It is a seriously impressive wine with tons of character. I have long admired Bellefont-Belcier for its potential. In the past, the tannins were simply overpowering, if the 2019 is any indication, that might be less of an issue going forward.

Strong ruby garnet, violet reflections, broader ocher edge brightening. Delicately of heart cherries and blueberries, a hint of nougat, delicate nuances of precious wood, inviting bouquet. Juicy, elegant, finely sweet fruit, delicately reminiscent of blackberries, silky, carrying tannins, very balanced and persistent, mineral finish, already accessible and equipped with definite potential for development.
VV Wine
Restrained nose, needs time to open, red fruit aromas dominate, cherries, currants, a hint of peppermint. Approachable on the palate, round, full-bodied, the fruit is opulent, appears very ripe, the silky tannins give grip, the wine has class and a lot of juiciness, is not broad at all, but very elegant. Resonates in the finish for a long time, ends spicy, with a stony note and red fruity back aromas.
