Margaux-slottet Dauzac har været inde i en rivende udvikling siden 2013, hvor forsikringselskabet MAIF hyrede Laurent Fortin som Team-leder for en lang række grønne tiltag, der siden har løftet både vinkvaliteten og ejendommens bæredygtige profil dramatisk! Fortin er fortsat i rollen som manager, efter Dauzacs videresalg til rigmanden Christian Roulleau i 2019. 

I marken er fokus i høj grad skiftet fra Merlot til den Médoc-klassiske kongedrue Cabernet Sauvignon, mens dyrkningen nu er stærkt inspireret af biodynamikken.

Respekten for naturen og terroiret afspejler sig også i vinificeringen, hvor druemosten i dag spontangærer med terroirets og vinkælderens naturligt forekommende gærstammer, og hvor tilsætningen af sulfitter er absolut minmal.  Da klaringen sker uden den traditionelle anvendelse af æggehvider, er vinene nu 100% veganervenlige.

From the outset, this wine exudes a light floral and fruity bouquet, especially the enchanting aromas of violets and hyacinths. Both on the nose and the palate, this vintage displays pure fruitiness, a luscious texture, and a consistent refreshing acidity. Château Dauzac has not overemphasized power in the highly tannic 2022 vintage, but has artfully transformed Labarde's inherent strength in an elegant way. In my opinion, this is one of the most outstanding Château Dauzac in recent years, and I eagerly await its even more impressive after bottling."

Sculpted and cool with an ease of drinkability to it. Tasted three times. Ageing in French oak; 75% new the rest one wine plus 3% amphora. Harvest 5 - 26 September."

"Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflections, delicate edge lightening. Sweet red wild berries, some liquorice and cassis, inviting bouquet. Complex, full-bodied and fresh, ripe blackberry confit, integrated tannins, fine touch of chocolate on the finish, very good length, shows harmony and length."

"The 2022 Dauzac, aged 75% in new oak and 5% amphora, takes time to settle in the glass. In fact, I'd allow it 10-15 minutes of aeration. It eventually offers attractive blackberry and sea spray/estuarine scents, as if a bit of the Gironde fell into the glass. Nothing wrong with that! The palate is medium-bodied with granular tannins and tensile black fruit laced with graphite. It tails off a little toward the finish. Nevertheless, this is a very admirable Margaux in the making. With five to seven years in bottle, it will be doling out a lot of pleasure."

"(Margaux; 63% Cabernet Sauvignon; 37% Merlot; 14% alcohol; tasted at the UGC press tasting). A very accomplished wine from Dauzac. Dark stone fruit predominate – plums and black cherries – with a lovely graphite note very evident on the nose with supportive but subtle spices – cracked peppercorns and nutmeg. Pure, lithe, quite crystalline and translucent in the mid-palate, but with quite a lot of amplitude which stretches the fruit just a little thinly, making this less compact than many. But an impressive wine consolidating the upward trajectory here over a number of vintages. 92-94."

The balance is spot-on here, and it's going to have a lengthy, broad drink window."
