Château Talbot St-Julien Cru Classé er kendt som en ægte gemmevin og berømt for at finde flere ekstra gear i kælderen set i forhold til de håbløst tidlige en primeur-ratings.
Blandt vores største bordeauxoplevelser i Supervin-Teamet var en mirakuløs lækker Talbot 1955, der kom os i hænde fra en stor vinkenders dødsbo:
En nær-perfekt himmerigsmundfuld, nærmest grundvoldsrystende kompleks. Så storslået og fuldendt at det ville tangere blasfemi at udpensle vinens utallige smagsnuancer..! Kun synd for samleren, at han aldrig nåede at smage sin Talbot 1955…

Talbot 2010 er nærmest uopdrivelig herhjemme, da de fleste flasker er gemt væk i store bordeauxkenderes vinkældre (gammel Talbot koster 2000 kr. eller mere flasken).

“Medium garnet red. Filigree, complex bouquet revealing notes of blueberries, blackberries and a spicy touch. When aired, I notice the scent of tea leaves and an elegant note of thyme. Delicious and fruity attack. On the palate, the wine has fullness, character and a beautiful aromatic intensity. The tannins are slowly revealed and endowed with a fine grain. The structure provides good rear protection and everything is in perfect harmony. A wine of character, marked by fullness and freshness and which reposition Talbot where it should or can be: among the elite of St-Julien! Well done.”

“One of the best Talbots over recent years, and possibly the best since the 1986 and 1982, this sexy juggernaut of a wine struts forth with an opaque plum/ruby/purple color and terrific notes of creme de cassis, licorice, roasted herbs and smoky barbecue. It is a brilliant effort, with full body, wonderful fruit, a savory, expansive mouthfeel, sensational texture and a long finish, but no hardness or astringency. This is a fabulous Talbot to drink over the next 20-25 years.”

Om Château Talbot
Château Talbot er tilbage i form. Den berømte 4. Cru Classé fra St-Julien var især 1980’erne lidt af en ”humørspiller” – nogle gange fabelagtig, men ofte skuffende.
Siden ansættelsen af ønologen Stephane Derenoncourt i 2007 er kvaliteten øget ved bl.a. sænket høstudbytte og plukning af mere fuldmodne druer. En strengere sortering har også forbedret ”le Grand Vin”, da 40% af druehøsten nu sorteres fra til 2. vinen Connétable Talbot.
Med indvielsen af et nyt vineri i 2013 har ratings fået fortjente nøk i den rigtige retning. Slottet har siden 1917 været drevet af Negociant-familien Cordier, der for nylig har ansat Jean-Michel Laporte som teknisk direktør. Jean-Michel kommer fra samme stilling hos Ch. La Conseillante, Pomerol.
