En Margaux-mastodont i storform! Allerede i Thomas Jeffersons berømte rejseskildringer rangerer Dufort-Vivens umiddelbart efter Chateau Margaux, Lafite Rothschild, Chateau Latour. Og priserne svæver i samme høje luftlag, da vinen i 1855 opnår sin klassificering som 2. Cru.
I 1961 overgår slottet til den ikoniske Bordeaux-familie Lurton, der siden 2009 har lagt stilen om og fundet svundne tiders melodi. Stilen er nu mere frugtkoncentreret end længe, mens de 50 år gamle vinstokke dyrkes med biodynamisk certificering. Fornyelsen har også nået vinkælderen, hvor delvis gæring samt modning på leramforaer har løftet topvinens tekstur, kvalitet og anmeldelser til den absolutte elite... med flere perfekte 100-point-anmeldelser som vidnesbyrd.
