"96 points. Best vintage from Cantenac Brown in a while" - Jeff Leve
"96 points. A wine with great concentration" - Wine Enthusiast
"96 points. Great elegance, it literally dances over the tongue" - VV Wine
96/100 Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider
"The best vintage from Cantenac Brown in a while opens with a showy display of flowers, espresso, thyme, black cherries, plums, tobacco and earthy, aromatics. Richly-textured, with soft, polished tannins and a wealth of deep, ripe, sweet, fresh, dark, red fruits, the wine feels as good as it tastes. The round, supple finish delivers loads of fruits and a touch of chocolate in the endnote."
96/100 Wine Enthusiast
"Now under new ownership, but with the same winemaking team, this estate has produced a wine with great concentration. The tannins are generous in feel, showing a dense, dry core that sits well with the powerful black currant fruits. It has great long-term potential."
96/100 VV Wine
"Profound, with herbs, stony notes, dark fruit, radiates freshness. On the palate with power and precision, a lot of pressure, great elegance, it literally dances over the tongue, reverberating for minutes..."
96/100 Vert de Vin Magazine
"On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackberry, crushed violet plum, bright raspberry, small notes of cherry associated with touches of liquorice, small crushed black fruits, tonka bean, lilac as well as discreet hints of sweet spices and an imperceptible hint of toasted hazelnut. Good length and beautiful persistence."

"Dark purple colour with violet hue and black core. Very perfumed nose with aroma reminiscent of ripe blackberries and plums, Boysenberries, in the background hints of violets, delicate oak mild spices. On the palate displaying a very good concentration and freshness, ripe tannins, multilayered fruit flavour and excellent length. A very classic style with freshness and elegance."
95/100 Alexandre Ma
"It’s a masterpiece that combines traditional craftsmanship with a modern aesthetic. Although the aroma is slightly reductive after bottling, it is still impossible to hide the rich connotation of this wine. The palate is purely precise, and the fresh juicy texture gives the taste buds a youthful color. The mellow and solid tannins on the finish are very prominent, this kind of interpretation of up and down amazes me a lot."
95/100 Vinous - Neal Martin
"José Sanfins has overseen a 2019 Cantenac Brown that will give immense pleasure in coming years. The bouquet has tightened up since I tasted the barrel sample (also at the château, in summer 2021): blackberry, raspberry and cedar are now accompanied by just a touch of peppermint. The palate is medium-bodied, taut and fresh, with sappy red fruit, fine acidity and a vibrant, harmonious finish. This Margaux brims with confidence and should give 30 to 40 years of drinking pleasure. The insiders' Margaux of choice."
95/100 James Suckling
"This has subtle aromas of blackcurrants and blueberries with hints of just-picked violets, light vanilla, licorice and crushed stones. Forest-floor notes, too. Medium to full body, layers of firm tannins and a velvety mouth-feel. Delicious crushed berries on the palate. Compact with a firm finish."

"A ton of tightly packed black fruits are right there on the attack of this wine, along with enticing aromatic power. It’s a well-muscled Cantenac Brown with a sleek, carefully controlled tanninc hold alongside liquorice and black chocolate notes - good stuff. New owner at this property as of 2019, Tristan Le Lous. 60% new oak, with 51% overall production in the first wine. Drinking window 2028-2044"
94/100 Antonio Galloni
"The 2019 Cantenac Brown is flashy and opulent, while also conveying the slightly cooler nature of the year vis-à-vis the 2018. A big, heady Margaux, Cantenac Brown is endowed with tremendous pedigree and class. Expressive savory accents round out the potent brooding finish. The 2019 has a ton to offer. It's a fine effort by the team lead by José Sanfins. Tasted two times."
94/100 Robert Parker
"The 2019 Cantenac Brown is a brilliant wine from José Sanfins and his team. Unwinding in the glass with deep aromas of wild berries, licorice, loamy soil, burning embers and violets, it's medium to full-bodied, seamless and layered, with terrific concentration, beautifully refined tannins and a seamless, elegant profile. Given its quality, this remains somewhat under the radar and is well worth a special effort to seek out."
94/100 Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux
94/100 The Wine Independent
94/100 Falstaff
"Dark ruby garnet, violet reflections, subtle lightening of the edges. Nuances of nougat and herbs, dark berries, a hint of precious wood and spices. Juicy and complex, extract-sweet core, elegant, fine, ripe tannins, freshly structured, silky and persistent, some nougat on the finish, good aging potential."
94/100 Decanter
"Good expression on the nose full of bramble fruit aromas. Nicely framed, this has an initial ripe, jammy sweetness - raspberries and strawberries but also touches of dark black fruit and liquorice. Quite a suave style, concentrated but polished. I get the cooling effects, liquorice and mint at the end. Overall, lovely power and drive."
