"Deep in color, with a floral, blackberry, cedar, cherry, cocoa and tobacco leaf nose. On the palate, the wine is soft, polished, elegant and with depth of flavor. There is freshness, a good mid-palate, length, purity and loads of sweet black and dark red fruits with silky tannins in the finish. Made from blending 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 49% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc and reaching 13.7% alcohol with a pH of 3.77, the harvest took place September 23 to October 11. 50% of the harvest was placed into the Grand Vin."

"The 2019 Beychevelle, one of the only wines that I actually tasted at the château with Philippe Blanc prior to lockdown, has a wonderful bouquet with detailed blackberry, briary, cedar and light touches of mocha unfurling from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a fine bead of acidity, a discrete marine influence taking over towards the finish. There is a tang of seaweed and brine on the aftertaste. It keeps you coming back for more. This is a great 2019 from Blanc and his team though we must wait to see if it will surpass their 2018."

Om Château Beychevelle 

Med sin imponerende hovedbygning og en parklignende have ned mod flodmundingen Gironde bliver Château Beychevelle nogle gange omtalt som Médocs Versailles. 

Navnet Beychevelle er afledt af ”baisse voile”, sænkede sejl. Enten i respekt for den franske admiral, der i sin tid ejede slottet, eller måske snarere i et (respektløst) forsøg på at snige sig uden om tolden!

Siden 2011 har Beychevelle været ejet af japanske Suntory i partnerskab med franske Pierre Castel. Slottet råder stort set over de samme marker som i 1855. Der lægges særlig vægt på markarbejdet, hvor praksisser som pløjning, afskaffelse af insektmidler samt egen produktion af kompost har revitaliseret jordbunden og indirekte fremmet druekvaliteten.

2016 er den første årgang, som er fremstillet på Beychevelles nye, topmoderne vineri. Bonusinfo: den drageagtige stævn på etikettens sejlskib har gjort Beychevelle særlig eftertragtet blandt kinesere!
