"A blend of 53% Cabernet Franc, 21% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance Malbec, the 2014 Le Desir is monumental stuff that has a Château Ausone-like character that’s hard to describe. its vibrant purple color is followed by a to-die-for bouquet of blackcurrants, black raspberries, cedar, tobacco leaf, and charcoal. This gives way to a concentrated, rich, yet incredibly delineated wine that has fine, fine tannin, notable freshness and purity, and a great finish. While blockbuster stuff, it’s for consumers with cold cellars and lots of patience. I’d hide bottles for 7-8 years and it’s going to keep for another 3+ decades."

"The nose is elegant, fruity, powerful, aromatic, voluptuous, dynamic and offers a beautiful finesse of the grain as well as freshness. It reveals notes of blackberry, cassis, fleshy / juicy plum and small notes of wild strawberry associated with small touches of small wild berries, volcanic minerality, spices as well as discreet hints of flowers, Sichuan pepper, caramelization and very discreet hints of juicy black fruit. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, very slight tight, melodious and offers a beautiful definition, a very slight tension, a beautiful finesse of the grain, a small dynamism, a beautiful suavity, a very slight freshness, a racy minerality as well as a very beautiful finesse of the texture. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy blackberry, crushed cassis and small notes of crushed raspberry, crushed plum associated with small touches of chocolate / cocoa, caramelization, toasted almond as well as discreet hints of sweet spices, discreet toasted hints, very discreet hints of blond tobacco (in the background) and an imperceptible hint of flowers (violet, blueberry) in the background. Tannins are fine, elegant and very slightly firm. Good length. Beautiful and gourmand persistence. There is a discreet hint of hazelnut on the persistence."

Opulent, but again structured and super-dense and pure, this is another massively concentrated wine meant for the long haul (and for our grandchildren). Give it 4-6 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 35-40 years. Remarkably, Pierre Seillan told me that 2014, while a drought year, was not actually that hot in the micro-terroirs he was working, but in terms of quality, it turned out to be the most surprisingly positive vintage he’s ever witnessed.”

2014 Le Désir er skabt på 53% Cabernet Franc, 21 % Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon og 5% Malbec. Druerne er nøje udvalgt fra hele 40 specifikke mikro-terroirs, beliggende i hhv. Alexander Valley, Chalk Hil, Bennett Valley og Knights Valley. Før gæringen gennemgår druerne 3-4 dages koldmaceration, hvilket fremmer farve og aromatisk finesse. Modnet på 100% nye franske fade og aftappet uden klaring og filtrering.

Om Vérité

Vérité, et såkaldt ”boutique winery”, blev grundlagt i 1998 af Jackson Family Wines. Vinhuset har hjemme nær Healdsburg i Sonoma County, og her fremstilles tre bordeaux-inspirerede kultvine under kyndig ledelse af den franske vinmager, Pierre Seillan. Det siger vist alt om kvaliteten, at Robert Parker hele tretten gange har belønnet Vérité med sin ”perfect score”, 100 points!
