"The 2013 growing season was truly a perfect one in Sonoma County. Very little rain during the winter, along with careful pruning and work in the vineyard, was key to controlling the energy of the vines. The growing season was ideal in terms of temperature: an absence of excessive heat allowed for very even ripening. In the spring, the moisture in the soil and the temperature permitted the vines to build a beautiful canopy from budbreak to bloom. Moderate, steady sunshine and temperatures throughout the whole season and cooler nights in August helped balance the acidity and tannins. The 2013 vintage must be one of the top five vintages of Vérité. The wines are intended to age over the next 20 years or more. Harvest took place September 3rd through September 17th."

“The 2013 Le Desir represents 2,500 cases. This is the softest of the three wines in 2013, and this blend of 61% Cabernet Franc, 23% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec emerges with more than half of the cuvée coming from Hillsides in Alexander Valley, 37% from Chalk Hill and the rest tiny dollops from Bennett Valley and Knights Valley. Opaque purple, like its siblings, the wine is showing incredible floral, blueberry and espresso notes, exotic Asian spices, velvety texture, a supple, multilayered mouthfeel and incredible finish, with incense and licorice. This is magnificent young wine, with a good 40-50 years of upside potential. Pierre Seillan is justifiably proud of what he has achieved, and his first vintage of Vérité was only 1998, but they go from strength to strength.”

"The most exotic and aromatically seductive of the Verité wines, wild red and black fruits marry with nuances of cigar tobacco and incipient floral details. While similarly large-scalled, La Desir's tannic structure is more supple than its siblings and its palate presence appealingly energetic. 62% Cabernet Franc, 22% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance Malbec."

2013 Le Désir er skabt på 61% Cabernet Franc, 23 % Merlot, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon og 5% Malbec. Druerne er nøje udvalgt fra hele 40 specifikke mikro-terroirs i Sonomas Alexander Valley, Chalk Hill, Bennett Valley og Knights Valley. Før gæringen gennemgår druerne 3-4 dages koldmaceration, hvilket fremmer farve og aromatisk finesse. Modnet på 100% nye franske fade samt aftappet uden klaring og filtrering.

Om Vérité

Vérité, et såkaldt ”boutique winery”, blev grundlagt i 1998 af Jackson Family Wines. Vinhuset har hjemme nær Healdsburg i Sonoma County, og her fremstilles tre bordeaux-inspirerede kultvine under kyndig ledelse af den franske vinmager, Pierre Seillan. Det siger vist alt om kvaliteten, at Robert Parker hele tretten gange har belønnet Vérité med sin ”perfect score”, 100 points!
